Noises Off by Michael Frayn. What typically goes on behind the scenes? Often referred to as one of the best farces ever written, Noises Off is witty and elegant, striking comedic-gold with unlimited energy and precise timing. Some battles only a mother can fight. Set in the high stakes world of competitive high school cheerleading, Bring It On: The Musical tells the story of Campbell, cheer captain and most popular girl at the uber-affluent Truman High School. Before she can lead her award-winning squad to another win at Nationals, tragedy strikes: School redistricting forces Campbell to transfer to the multi-ethnic Jackson High School.
Soon she discovers that Eva, a plotting sophomore with delusions of grandeur, is responsible for knocking her from the top of the cheer pyramid. When Boo, Darling, Baby and Sweetie are unable to agree on a common definition of Love, their otherwise normal dinner party spirals into an absurd chaos of marriage proposals, identity crises, heartbreak, culinary emergency and polite cannibalism.
Part absurdist meta-theatre, part heart-breaking cringe comedy, A Dinner Party asks how we know our individual Selfs and understand our Love for one another in the fragmented social landscape of the 21st Century. This fantastical show will take you on a journey through the landscapes, emotions and visions of each individual.
